After a long day of bumpy roads , we had a more relaxed second day exploring the beautiful reserve "Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve". The park hosts a variety of unique fauna and flora, such as the vicuña and endemic species of flamingos. There are several lakes throughout the reserve which make perfect habitats for the flamingos. The light and the minerals present in each lake affects the colour of it making each lake an unique one. The presence of the flamingos in some of them is just the cherry on the top of the cake: scenes of landscape that seem taken from another world!
The park also includes some small salares (salt flats), including the Salar Chalviri, which besides salt also has other minerals such as sodium borate. Also known as borax, this mineral is used by locals as a natural washing powder.
In this area there are some sights that are particularly special for their specific landscape. One of them is called Dali's Desert due to its resembleness to some of Salvador Dali's surrealist paintings. It is a particular arid area of the park where some rocks are scattered along the sandy mountains.
