Happy New Year!
This was the most relaxed New Year’s Eve since years – we were sleeping in the airplane!!
There was no champagne, no high heels, no stress in deciding where and when to spend it (and with who!) – the New Year arrived just like that !
We left Chile on the night of 30th December and arrived to Auckland, NZ on the 1st of January 2015!

We left Chile on the night of 30th December and arrived to Auckland, NZ on the 1st of January 2015!
Auckland was asleep when we landed at 4 am on the 1st of January, apparently all clubs must close at 3am in New Zealand (NZ). We crashed in the hostel for some hours of extra sleep.
The first day of 2015 woke up nicely with a warm sun and the whole city for us to discover! Auckland is also called City of Sails, due to its two magnificent harbours and proximity to the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
Knowing this, we went directly to the docks on this first day of the year!
What a beautiful view!

Even the way to the docks was nice, this city is so green! We were staying in Ponsonby neighbourhood with its beautiful wooden houses, beautiful gardens and porches. We were greeted with a "Happy New Year" with the first people we encountered on the park - we started then to understand the NZ psyche of being friendly all the time!
Another feature we learned was that fitness is a big thing around here! Everyday we would see people exercising, all in good shape! Even on the 1st day of the year!!
We went to the docks where everybody was enjoying the sun and then to the Auckland Art Gallery – free entrance. It was a great way to start the year: the sun, the sea, nice people and art !
Oh did we have a good time in New Zealand...
