The most fun part of planning a RTW is to choose your route. There are many people that do this kind of trip in a spontaneous way, booking their flights as they go. With the RTW ticket from One World we have chosen a middle-term way, which compromises the main route but leaves us the dates from the flights open.
First we had to define which regions of the world we would like to see and those who should be left for the next trip. Then, in each region, we defined our pillars, our must-see spots. With this we could start planning our route according to many factors. Interestingness, curiosity, cost of life, safety, coordination of route with other destinations. Well it seems like a lot of trouble but in fact it was loads of fun!
Our main regions will be South America, Oceania (Australia and New Zealand), Southeast Asia and finally Far East Asia. Below you can see the world map with the peripatéticos route. The red dot is our departure city: Porto. The blue dots are our destinations included in our ticket. The dark blue lines indicate a flight included in our RWT ticket and the light ones indicate routes that we will do and plan by ourselves later.
Porto > Buenos Aires > Santiago > Auckland > Sydney > Singapore > Ho Chi Min > Hong Kong > Tokyo > Porto
